Losing weight: We can help, and in more ways than you might think.
We’re a multi-disciplinary clinic, which means we can help in more than one way. And a joined-up approach is one that’s more likely to work.
A lot of our clients come to us for one thing — a physio appointment, a skin treatment, maybe a massage — and then realise (hopefully before too long!) that we do quite a lot more than that.
Weight management is a good example. It’s not something we shout about, partly because it’s a sensitive subject, and partly because “weight loss clinic” isn’t really what we are. But if you’ve been thinking about losing weight, or are actively trying to, it’s worth knowing what’s actually available here.
It starts with a proper conversation
Dr Joyce Braaksma is our private GP, and she’s the natural first port of call. Her consultations are 30 minutes long, so there’s enough time to actually talk. She’ll look at your health history, understand what’s been going on, and work out whether medication like Mounjaro or Wegovy might be part of the picture for you.
These are GLP-1 medications with solid clinical evidence behind them, and they can make a real difference for the right person. But Joyce won’t just hand over a prescription and wave you off, that’s not how we work. We’re a multidisciplinary clinic for a reason — the best outcomes come from different approaches, working together. And for something like losing weight, which can often be a complex issue, that plan involves a team to support you.
The team that makes it stick
Rachael Peddie Temple is our nutritional therapist, and if Joyce prescribes weight loss medication, working with Rachael isn’t optional, it’s part of the package. And that’s deliberate. Medication can help you lose the weight; Rachael helps you understand how to keep it off. She works with patients on what sustainable eating actually looks like for them — not a diet, but a realistic approach that fits around real life.
Christine Roy is our clinical hypnotherapist. She works with the patterns and emotional relationship with food that sit underneath the surface — the habits that can make change hard to sustain even when you’re motivated and doing everything else right.
Joyce, Rachael and Christine all work together, so however you come at this, you’re not getting a single-thread answer to what is usually a multi-layered problem.
If any of this sounds relevant to you, the easiest thing to do is give us a call on 01436 672677. Or, have a read of our weight loss support page for more detail.
