It’s sent away to the lab, and your results are reviewed by our private GP, Dr Joyce Braaksma, who’ll interpret them for you and advise on any next steps. Most results are back within one to three working days.

  1. Book your appointment. Choose the test that’s right for you and book online or by calling 01436 672677. If you’re not sure which test is right for you, we can help.
  2. Nurse Anna takes your sample. A quick, straightforward blood draw here at the clinic.
  3. Dr Joyce reviews your results. Once they’re back from the lab, our GP goes through them and lets you know what they mean and whether any follow-up is needed.

General Health Check-ups

Well Man Profile | Well Person Profile | Well Woman Profile
Basic Health Screen | Health Screen

If you’re looking for an overall check-up, either as a yearly MOT or because something feels a bit off and you’re not sure what, start here. These five overlap quite a bit, so here’s a quick guide on how they differ so you can pick which one is right for you:

  • Well Man, Well Person and Well Woman are our three ‘wellbeing’ profiles. Well Man is built around men’s health and includes a prostate check. Well Person is our general, non-gender-specific version and includes a vitamin D check. Well Woman covers everything in Well Person, plus a marker relevant to women’s health.
  • Basic Health Screen and Health Screen look more broadly at how your organs and metabolism are working — kidneys, liver, bone health, blood sugar, cholesterol and iron. Health Screen is the fuller version, adding a full blood count on top of everything in Basic Health Screen.

If you’re still not sure which is right for you, give us a call on 01436 672677 and we’ll be happy to help.

Well Man Profile is a general health check-up built with men in mind. It covers your thyroid, iron stores, blood sugar, cholesterol, and includes a prostate check, so it’s a sensible yearly check-up or a good place to start if something doesn’t feel quite right.

If your Well Man Profile shows a raised PSA result, Stockholm3 can give a more detailed picture — see more.

What’s included:

  • Thyroid function (Free T4 / TSH) — checks how your thyroid gland is working. Your thyroid controls energy, weight and metabolism, so an under- or overactive thyroid can leave you feeling tired, low, or “not yourself.”
  • Ferritin — a measure of the iron stored in your body. Low levels can point to iron deficiency, which is a common and treatable cause of tiredness.
  • HbA1c — your average blood sugar level over the past two to three months. It’s the main test used to check for, or monitor, diabetes.
  • Prostate Profile (PSA) — a blood marker used alongside other checks to assess prostate health.
  • Cholesterol, including HDL, LDL and Non-HDL — a full breakdown of your cholesterol, covering both the “good” (HDL) and “bad” (LDL) types, to give a clearer picture of your heart health than a total cholesterol number alone.

Usual Turnaround Time: 1 day

Cost: £255

Please note that pricing was correct at time of writing, but you can see our prices here

Well Person is our general, non-gender-specific health check. It looks at how your thyroid, iron stores, blood sugar, vitamin D and cholesterol are doing, and is a good all-round option if you want reassurance or a baseline to work from.

  • Vitamin D (25-OH) — checks your vitamin D level. Vitamin D supports bone health, muscle function and immunity, and levels can dip, particularly over the winter months in Scotland.

Well Woman profile includes everything in the Well Person Profile, as well as an additional marker relevant to women’s health. A good general check-up for women who want the broader picture.

  • Vitamin D (25-OH) — checks your vitamin D level. Vitamin D supports bone health, muscle function and immunity, and levels can dip, particularly over the winter months in Scotland.
  • Cholesterol, including HDL, LDL and Non-HDL — a full breakdown of your cholesterol, covering both the “good” (HDL) and “bad” (LDL) types, to give a clearer picture of your heart health than a total cholesterol number alone.
  • CA125 — a protein that can be raised for a number of reasons, including some ovarian conditions. It’s used as part of a wider picture rather than as a standalone diagnostic test, and Dr Joyce will explain what your result means for you.

Usual Turnaround Time: 1 day

Cost: £282

Please note that pricing was correct at time of writing, but you can see our prices here

Our Basic Health Screen is a broad general health check that looks at how your kidneys, liver and metabolism are working, alongside tests for cholesterol and iron. A sensible starting point if you want an overall check-up without anything specific in mind. Our Health Screen includes all this as well as a full blood count – see more about health Screen →

What’s included:

  • Kidney function (Urea and Electrolytes) — Sodium, Potassium, Chloride, Bicarbonate, Urea, Creatinine, eGFR. Checks how well your kidneys are filtering waste and keeping your body’s chemistry balanced.
  • Liver function tests — Bilirubin, Alkaline Phosphatase, AST, ALT, Gamma GT, Total Protein, Albumin, Globulin. Checks how your liver is working and can flag early signs of liver strain.
  • Bone markers — Calcium, Phosphate, Uric Acid, Magnesium. Covers bone and mineral health, and uric acid can also flag a tendency towards gout.
  • Glucose — your blood sugar level at the time of the test.
  • Triglycerides — a type of fat in the blood, linked to heart health.
  • Cholesterol, including HDL, LDL and Non-HDL — a full breakdown of your cholesterol, covering both the “good” (HDL) and “bad” (LDL) types, to give a clearer picture of your heart health than a total cholesterol number alone.
  • Iron, including TIBC — checks your iron levels and your blood’s capacity to carry iron, useful for picking up iron deficiency or overload.

Usual Turnaround Time: 1 day

Cost: £140

Please note that pricing was correct at time of writing, but you can see our prices here

Our Health Screen includes everything in the Basic Health Screen (kidney function, liver function, bone markers, glucose, triglycerides, cholesterol, iron), plus a full blood count. This is our most comprehensive general screen, and a good choice if you want the fullest possible picture in one go.

  • Full Blood Count (FBC) — counts your red cells, white cells and platelets. Used to check for anaemia, infection, and general blood health.
  • ESR — a general marker of inflammation in the body.

Usual Turnaround Time: 1 day

Cost: £155

Hormone & Prostate Health

Menopause Profile | Male Hormone Profile | Stockholm3

We’ve two focused tests looking at hormone levels, for anyone whose symptoms seem hormone-related rather than something a general check-up would catch. Menopause Profile is for women experiencing symptoms that could be linked to perimenopause or menopause. Male Hormone Profile is for men experiencing symptoms such as low energy, reduced libido, or difficulty maintaining muscle mass. Both look specifically at the hormones involved, rather than the broader picture covered by our Well Woman and Well Man Profiles.

Stockholm3 is a detailed prostate health test used to clinically assess the risk of prostate cancer.

If you’d like advice on which is right for you, give us a call on 01436 672677 and we’ll be happy to help.

For women experiencing symptoms that could be linked to perimenopause or menopause — hot flushes, mood changes, irregular periods, sleep disturbance, or changes in energy — this profile measures key hormone levels to help build a clearer picture. Alongside your symptoms and medical history, Dr Joyce can use your results to help guide decisions about treatment or further investigation.

What’s included:

  • FSH (Follicle Stimulating Hormone) — a hormone that typically rises as you approach and go through menopause, making it a key marker for tracking where you are in that transition.
  • Luteinising Hormone (LH) — works alongside FSH to help build a picture of hormonal changes linked to perimenopause and menopause.
  • Oestradiol-17-Beta — the main form of oestrogen in the body; levels naturally decline during perimenopause and menopause.
  • Free T4 — checks thyroid hormone levels, since thyroid changes can cause symptoms similar to menopause.
  • TSH — checks thyroid function, for the same reason — ruling this in or out helps make sure the right cause is identified.

Usual Turnaround Time: 1 day

Cost: £184.50

Please note that pricing was correct at time of writing, but you can see our prices here

For men experiencing symptoms such as low energy, low mood, reduced libido, or difficulty maintaining muscle mass, this profile checks key hormone levels to help identify whether a hormonal imbalance could be contributing.

What’s included:

  • FSH (Follicle Stimulating Hormone) — works alongside LH to help assess hormone signalling and testicular function.
  • Luteinising Hormone (LH) — a hormone that helps regulate testosterone production.
  • Testosterone — the main male sex hormone, affecting energy, mood, libido and muscle mass.
  • Free Androgen Index — a calculated measure that gives a clearer sense of how much testosterone is actually available for your body to use, rather than just the total amount.
  • Prolactin — when raised, this hormone can affect testosterone levels and libido.
  • Sex Hormone Binding Globulin (SHBG) — a protein that binds to testosterone in the blood; used to help calculate how much is free and active.

Usual Turnaround Time: 1 day

Cost: £166

Please note that pricing was correct at time of writing, but you can see our prices here

A more detailed prostate health test for men, used to assess the risk of clinically significant prostate cancer more accurately than a PSA test alone. It’s suitable for men aged 45–74 who haven’t had a previous prostate cancer diagnosis, and is typically used as a next step after a raised PSA result — for example, following a Well Man Profile.

Stockholm3 combines genetic markers, protein levels and your clinical history (such as age, family history of prostate cancer, and any previous biopsies) into a single risk score. This can help avoid unnecessary further investigation, such as biopsies or scans, where they’re not needed. There’s no need for a consultation before booking — Dr Joyce reviews every result personally and will be in touch if any follow-up is recommended.

What this looks at:

  • Genetic markers — variations in DNA associated with prostate cancer risk.
  • Protein markers, including PSA — biological markers linked to prostate health.
  • Your clinical information — including age, family history and any previous biopsies, combined with the above to calculate your overall risk score.

Usual Turnaround Time: up to 2 weeks

Cost: £375

Tiredness, Iron & Anaemia

Tired All The Time | Iron Status Profile | Anaemia Profile

If ongoing fatigue or tiredness is what’s brought you to look into blood testing, this is the group to look at. Tired All The Time is our broadest option, checking thyroid, iron, blood sugar and cholesterol together. If you already suspect iron is the issue, Iron Status Profile gives a more focused look at that specifically. Anaemia Profile is the right choice if you want to check for anaemia itself (not having enough healthy red blood cells to carry oxygen properly), rather than iron levels alone. If you’re not sure which fits, Tired All The Time is a sensible starting point.

If you’d like advice on which is right for you, give us a call on 01436 672677 and we’ll be happy to help.

Tired All The Time is a test we’re particularly glad to be able to offer, because ongoing tiredness is one of the most common concerns we hear about and also one of the most easily dismissed. Fatigue that sleep doesn’t fix can have several underlying causes, from thyroid issues to low iron or vitamin levels, and they’re all things this test can help rule in or out.

  • Cholesterol, including HDL, LDL and Non-HDL — a full breakdown of your cholesterol, covering both the “good” (HDL) and “bad” (LDL) types, to give a clearer picture of your heart health than a total cholesterol number alone.
  • Folic Acid (Folate) — a B vitamin needed for making healthy red blood cells. Low levels can cause tiredness and a type of anaemia.
  • Vitamin B12 — needed for energy, nerve health and red blood cell production. Low B12 is a common and treatable cause of fatigue.

Usual Turnaround Time: 1 day

Cost: £260

Please note that pricing was correct at time of writing, but you can see our prices here

A focused look at your iron levels, useful if you’ve been feeling low on energy, or if a previous test has flagged something worth investigating further. This test typically gives a fuller picture of your iron status than a single ferritin reading alone.

What’s included:

  • Iron (with TIBC) — checks your iron levels and your blood’s capacity to carry iron, useful for picking up iron deficiency or overload.
  • Ferritin — a measure of the iron stored in your body. Low levels can point to iron deficiency, which is a common and treatable cause of tiredness.
  • Transferrin Saturation — shows how much of the protein that carries iron round your body is actually being used, giving a clearer overall picture of your iron status than a single reading alone.

Usual Turnaround Time: 1 day

Cost: £181

Please note that pricing was correct at time of writing, but you can see our prices here

A focused test for anaemia, which is the general term for not having enough healthy red blood cells to carry oxygen properly. Useful if you’ve been feeling unusually tired, breathless, or pale, and want to understand why.

What’s included:

  • Full Blood Count (FBC) — counts your red cells, white cells and platelets. Used to check for anaemia, infection, and general blood health.
  • ESR — a general marker of inflammation in the body.
  • Vitamin B12 (Active) — needed for energy, nerve health and red blood cell production. Low B12 is a common and treatable cause of fatigue and anaemia.
  • Folate (RBC) — a B vitamin needed for making healthy red blood cells. Low levels can cause tiredness and a type of anaemia.

Usual Turnaround Time: 2 days

Cost: £261

Please note that pricing was correct at time of writing, but you can see our prices here

Bone & Mineral Health

Osteoporosis Screen | Mineral Screen

Two different but related checks. Osteoporosis Screen looks specifically at bone strength and density, useful if you have a family history of osteoporosis, or are going through or have past menopause, when bone loss can speed up. Mineral Screen looks more broadly at the everyday minerals your body needs to function, useful if you’re investigating fatigue, hair or skin changes, or just want to know whether your diet is giving you what you need.

If you’d like advice on which is right for you, give us a call on 01436 672677 and we’ll be happy to help.

Our Osteoporosis Screen looks at markers linked to bone health and strength, useful if you’re concerned about bone density, have a family history of osteoporosis, or are past menopause, when bone loss can speed up.

What’s included:

  • Calcium — important for bone strength, as well as muscle and nerve function.
  • Phosphate — works alongside calcium to build and maintain healthy bones.
  • Alkaline Phosphatase — an enzyme linked to bone (and liver) activity; raised levels can point to increased bone turnover.
  • Albumin — a blood protein that helps make sure your calcium result is interpreted accurately, since calcium levels are affected by the amount of protein in your blood.
  • Crosslaps (Serum DPD) — a marker of how quickly old bone is being broken down, giving a picture of your bone turnover.
  • Vitamin D (25-OH) — checks your vitamin D level. Vitamin D is essential for absorbing calcium and keeping bones strong.

Usual Turnaround Time: 4 days

Cost: £265

Please note that pricing was correct at time of writing, but you can see our prices here

Mineral Screen checks your levels of key minerals that your body needs to function properly. Useful if you’re investigating fatigue, hair or skin changes, or simply want to know whether your diet is giving you what you need. Results take a little longer, as this is a five-day turnaround test.

What’s included:

  • Calcium — important for bones, teeth, muscle and nerve function.
  • Magnesium — involved in energy production, muscle and nerve function.
  • Zinc — supports immunity, wound healing and skin health.
  • Iron — needed to carry oxygen around the body.
  • Copper — supports the immune system and helps the body absorb iron.
  • Chromium — plays a role in how your body handles blood sugar.
  • Manganese — involved in bone formation and metabolism.

Usual Turnaround Time: 5 days

Cost: £206

Allergies & Intolerances

ALEX³ Allergy Test | Allergic Rhinitis Profile | Gluten Sensitivity Profile

We have three tests for allergies and sensitivities. ALEX³ Allergy Test is our broadest option, screening around 300 allergens at once, from pollens and pet dander to foods, insect venoms and latex. Allergic Rhinitis Profile is more targeted, if you specifically get hayfever-type symptoms (blocked or runny nose, sneezing, itchy eyes) and want to know exactly what’s triggering them. Gluten Sensitivity Profile checks for sensitivity to gluten, useful if you get digestive symptoms after eating wheat, bread or pasta. All three test packages include Dr Joyce Braaksma’s review of your results.

If you’d like advice on which is right for you, give us a call on 01436 672677 and we’ll be happy to help.

ALEX³ is our most advanced allergy test. It screens your reaction to 300 allergens from a single blood sample, covering high-relevance sources such as animal dander, cereals, egg, legumes, milk, dust mites, moulds, pollen, seafood, tree nuts and venoms. Alongside this, it tests 218 individual molecular allergens (the specific proteins within each allergen source), 107 of which are unique to this test, giving a more detailed picture of exactly what you’re sensitised to than a standard allergy screen. There’s no need to fast beforehand or stop taking antihistamines. This price includes Dr Joyce’s review of your results.

Usual Turnaround Time: 3-4 days

Cost: £331 (includes GP review)

Please note that pricing was correct at time of writing, but you can see our prices here

Allergic Rhinitis Profile checks for the specific allergens most commonly linked to allergic rhinitis, the medical term for hayfever-type symptoms: a blocked or runny nose, sneezing, and itchy or watery eyes. Useful if you get these symptoms regularly and want to know exactly what’s triggering them. This price includes Dr Joyce’s review of your results.

What’s included:

  • Total IgE — your overall allergy antibody level, giving a general sense of how allergic your immune system is running.
  • Tree and grass pollens (silver birch, timothy grass, mugwort, London plane) — the main pollens behind hayfever in the UK, covering both spring tree pollen and summer grass/weed pollen seasons.
  • Moulds (Alternaria alternata, Aspergillus fumigatus, Cladosporium herbarum) — common mould spores that can trigger rhinitis and asthma-type symptoms, especially outdoors in autumn or in damp indoor spaces.
  • Cat dander and dog dander — proteins shed by pets that are a common year-round trigger for allergic symptoms.
  • Dust mite (Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus) — a very common year-round household allergen, found in bedding, carpets and soft furnishings.
  • Peanut, egg white and cow’s milk — common food allergens included to help build a fuller picture, since food sensitivities can sometimes contribute to or be mistaken for airborne allergy symptoms.

Usual Turnaround Time: 2 days

Cost: £321 (includes GP review)

Please note that pricing was correct at time of writing, but you can see our prices here

Our Gluten Sensitivity Profile looks for markers associated with sensitivity to gluten, useful if you’ve noticed digestive symptoms after eating wheat, bread or pasta and want to investigate whether gluten could be a factor. This price includes Dr Joyce’s review of your results.

What’s included:

  • Gluten Single IgE Allergen — checks for an immediate, allergic-type reaction to gluten.
  • Gliadin Antibodies (IgG, deamidated) — checks for a delayed immune reaction linked to gluten sensitivity.
  • Tissue Transglutaminase IgA (Coeliac) — the main antibody test used to screen for coeliac disease.
  • Immunoglobulin A — checks your overall IgA level, since a naturally low level can affect how accurate the coeliac antibody test above is.
  • HLA Tissue Typing Coeliac Disease (DQ2/DQ8) — a genetic test. Most people with coeliac disease carry one of these genes, so this helps rule coeliac disease in or out.

Usual Turnaround Time: 10 days
