Private blood testing is now available at The Lomond Clinic. Whether you want a general check-up, you’re trying to get to the bottom of a specific symptom, or you’re keen to keep an eye on something before it becomes a problem, we can arrange the right test for you, no GP referral needed.
We’ve always offered blood tests through our private GP service, and that’s still the case if you’d rather start with a consultation. The difference now is that you can also book many of these tests directly, without arranging a GP appointment first.
How our Blood Testing Service Works
Our blood testing service is designed to be as quick and easy as possible. Our nurse Anna Blackshaw takes your sample here at the clinic. It’s sent away to the lab, and your results are reviewed by our private GP, Dr Joyce Braaksma, who’ll interpret them for you and advise on any next steps. Most results are back within one to three working days.
- Book your appointment. Choose the test that’s right for you and book online or by calling 01436 672677. If you’re not sure which test is right for you, we can help.
- Nurse Anna takes your sample. A quick, straightforward blood draw here at the clinic.
- Dr Joyce reviews your results. Once they’re back from the lab, our GP goes through them and lets you know what they mean and whether any follow-up is needed.
Blood Testing Packages we Offer.
We’ve outlined our testing packages below, grouped into types. If you can’t find the test you’re looking for, please get in touch – additional tests are available on request.
General Health Check-ups
Well Man Profile | Well Person Profile | Well Woman Profile
Basic Health Screen | Health Screen
If you’re looking for an overall check-up, either as a yearly MOT or because something feels a bit off and you’re not sure what, start here. These five overlap quite a bit, so here’s a quick guide on how they differ so you can pick which one is right for you:
- Well Man, Well Person and Well Woman are our three ‘wellbeing’ profiles. Well Man is built around men’s health and includes a prostate check. Well Person is our general, non-gender-specific version and includes a vitamin D check. Well Woman covers everything in Well Person, plus a marker relevant to women’s health.
- Basic Health Screen and Health Screen look more broadly at how your organs and metabolism are working — kidneys, liver, bone health, blood sugar, cholesterol and iron. Health Screen is the fuller version, adding a full blood count on top of everything in Basic Health Screen.
If you’re still not sure which is right for you, give us a call on 01436 672677 and we’ll be happy to help.
Hormone & Prostate Health
Menopause Profile | Male Hormone Profile | Stockholm3
We’ve two focused tests looking at hormone levels, for anyone whose symptoms seem hormone-related rather than something a general check-up would catch. Menopause Profile is for women experiencing symptoms that could be linked to perimenopause or menopause. Male Hormone Profile is for men experiencing symptoms such as low energy, reduced libido, or difficulty maintaining muscle mass. Both look specifically at the hormones involved, rather than the broader picture covered by our Well Woman and Well Man Profiles.
Stockholm3 is a detailed prostate health test used to clinically assess the risk of prostate cancer.

Tiredness, Iron & Anaemia
Tired All The Time | Iron Status Profile | Anaemia Profile
If ongoing fatigue or tiredness is what’s brought you to look into blood testing, this is the group to look at. Tired All The Time is our broadest option, checking thyroid, iron, blood sugar and cholesterol together. If you already suspect iron is the issue, Iron Status Profile gives a more focused look at that specifically. Anaemia Profile is the right choice if you want to check for anaemia itself (not having enough healthy red blood cells to carry oxygen properly), rather than iron levels alone. If you’re not sure which fits, Tired All The Time is a sensible starting point.
If you’d like advice on which is right for you, give us a call on 01436 672677 and we’ll be happy to help.
Bone & Mineral Health
Osteoporosis Screen | Mineral Screen
Two different but related checks. Osteoporosis Screen looks specifically at bone strength and density, useful if you have a family history of osteoporosis, or are going through or have past menopause, when bone loss can speed up. Mineral Screen looks more broadly at the everyday minerals your body needs to function, useful if you’re investigating fatigue, hair or skin changes, or just want to know whether your diet is giving you what you need.

Weight Management
Weightloss Health Profile
Our Weightloss Health Profile is intended for anyone looking to start – or who is already on – a weightloss journey. It focuses on general health, including liver and kidney function, and blood sugar levels.
See also our Weight Loss page for more information on our weight management services, including medication and nutritional support.
Allergies & Intolerances
ALEX³ Allergy Test | Allergic Rhinitis Profile | Gluten Sensitivity Profile
We have three tests for allergies and sensitivities. ALEX³ Allergy Test is our broadest option, screening around 300 allergens at once, from pollens and pet dander to foods, insect venoms and latex. Allergic Rhinitis Profile is more targeted, if you specifically get hayfever-type symptoms (blocked or runny nose, sneezing, itchy eyes) and want to know exactly what’s triggering them. Gluten Sensitivity Profile checks for sensitivity to gluten, useful if you get digestive symptoms after eating wheat, bread or pasta. All three test packages include Dr Joyce Braaksma’s review of your results.
