What to expect at your consultation
Your appointment with Anna is unhurried and built around your plans. She’ll take time to understand your itinerary, travel style, health history, and vaccination record — then advise on exactly what you need, rather than working through a standard list.
During your consultation you can expect to cover vaccinations, malaria risk, bite avoidance, food and water safety, DVT, sun protection, managing any existing health conditions while away, and what to pack in a travel health kit. The initial consultation fee is redeemable against any vaccination costs at the same appointment.

Planning your travel health timeline
The earlier you book, the better — some vaccines need multiple doses given weeks apart, and a few courses take more than 8 weeks to complete. As a general guide:
6–8 weeks before travel (or more): Book your consultation as soon as your trip is confirmed.
4–6 weeks before travel: Complete any multi-dose courses; check prescription medication supplies.
1–2 weeks before travel: Final check, any remaining vaccines, collect certificates if needed.
Travelling at short notice? Get in touch anyway — some vaccines provide protection within days, and it’s always worth a conversation.

Authorised Yellow Fever Vaccination Centre
The Lomond Clinic is one of a limited number of authorised yellow fever vaccination centres in Scotland. We provide both the vaccination and the official International Certificate of Vaccination required for entry to certain countries in Africa and South America — and we can issue replacement certificates for those that have been lost or damaged.
Everything you need, right here in Helensburgh.

Frequently Asked Questions About Travel Health
Do I need a GP referral?
No — you can book directly with Anna without a referral.
Do I need vaccinations for Europe?
For Western Europe, additional vaccines are rarely needed if your routine vaccinations are up to date. Anna will advise based on your specific destination and plans — tick-borne encephalitis, for example, may be worth considering for hiking in certain areas.
Can you replace a lost yellow fever certificate?
Yes. As an authorised centre we can issue replacement certificates, saving you from being re-vaccinated.
What if I’m travelling at short notice?
Get in touch and we’ll do what we can. Some vaccines provide protection within days, and even a last-minute consultation is better than none.
Does travel insurance require vaccinations?
Many policies require you to follow medical advice on vaccinations. We can provide documentation of our recommendations and treatments for insurance purposes.
